尊敬的项怀诚主席：我对万里先生的逝世深表悲痛。我在25年前结识万里先生，在这之后多次和他一起打牌，并有幸与这位为中国改革做出巨大贡献的先驱数次交谈。我们将深切缅怀万里先生，也会将他作为桥牌运动的爱好者和推广大使铭记于心。请接受我个人以及我所代表的国际桥牌界最深切的哀悼：
Dear Mr. President I share your sorrow about Mr. Wan Li passing away. I met him twenty five years ago for the first time and had many opportunities, since that, to play bridge with him as well to speak with a truly great personality who contributes to the development of China. We will miss him but on another hand we will remember him forever as one of the best lover and ambassador of bridge.
