Evolution of City Theme of Chinese Literature in the 20th Century

20世纪中国文学中的城市书写是民族国家现代性追求的文学表现。作为一个重要主题,20世纪中国文学对人的现代化与人所赖以生存的空间的城市化的书写经历了三个发展阶段,即20年代至40年代的被动城市化时期的城市经验铭写、50年代至70年代的逆城市化时期的城市想象,以及80年代至世纪末的城市化时代的多元延展。梳理20世纪中国文学中的城市主题的变奏,归结其书写经验,对当代文学研究具有重要意义。

City writing was a kind of symbol that expressed the pursuit of modernity of the national state in the 20th centu- ry Chinese literature. As an important theme, city writing includes the modernization of people and the modernization of the city. The city writing experiences three stages of development： first, the experiences of passive urbanization from 1920s to 1940s; second, the imagination of counter urbanization from 1950s to 1970s; last, the extension of the urbaniza- tion times from 1980s to the end of the century. It is important to comb the variation of the urban theme of Chinese litera- ture in the 20th century, which has great significance to contemporary literature research.
