Discussion on Oriental Modern Nationalist Literary Trend

"民族主义文学思潮"是近一百多年来东方重要的文学思潮。其内部包含不同的思想倾向,表现形态也丰富多样,是一个复杂的、开放性的综合体系。它是东方社会对源于西方的现代化全球扩散作出的基于民族立场的文学回应,与东方现代化进程相伴相随,时间跨度长,至今还在以新的形态继续。它以民族国家的生存与发展为创作宗旨,以功利性、现实性和民族性为创作原则。它是现代世界文学中与西方的现代主义文学双峰并峙的文学思潮。

＂Nationalist literary trend＂ is the literary trend of the past hundred years. It contains different ideological tendencies and manifestations, meanwhile, it is a complicated, open and comprehensive system. It is the literary response of oriental society based on the national standpoint which is originated from Western modern global diffusion. It has a long time span and goes with the oriental modernization process, and it still continues with a new form. The survival and development of nation--state is its creation purpose and the creation principle is of the utilitarian, reality and national character. It is the literary trend of modern world literature and western modernist literature.
