On Higher Vocational English Teaching Driven by Industrial Needs

传统英语教学以掌握知识为核心,已不能满足中国现代职业教育的要求。研究结果表明:当前高职英语教学处于困境的主要原因是应试教育导致学生没有明确学习英语的真正目的,缺乏学习动力;学生希望学习职业英语。本文尝试为高职英语教改提供一些启示和建议。

Traditional English teaching, with knowledge acquisi-tion as the core, has been unable to meet the requirements of Chinese modern vocational education. The results show that：the main reason for the current predicament of higher vocational English teaching is that examination-oriented education results in students＇ lack of a clear knowledge on the real purpose of Eng-lish learning and their lack of motivation in learning; students would like to learn vocational English. This paper attempts to provide some inspirations and advice to higher vocational English teaching reform.
