摘要 美国作家德莱赛的《欲望三部曲》描绘了20世纪初美国消费主义兴起之时的社会状况。作品中的女性人物在美国消费社会初期已经成为大众消费的领先人物;女性消费表现出三大特征:炫耀消费、替代消费和身体消费。小说中的女性人物不仅消费着商品也消费着"自身",成为消费社会的一道特殊景观。但她们作为消费主体处于两难处境之中,小说中的女性消费现象也反映了作家德莱赛独特的女性观。 American writer Dreiser's Trilogy of Desire displays the social conditions at the beginning of the 20 th century when consumerism was on the rise.Female characters in the trilogy have become leading figures of the mass consumption in the earlier period of Ameican Consumer Society.Their consumption takes on 3features:conspicuous consumption,substitutional consumption and body consumption.Women in the trilogy not only consume comodities but also consume themselves,which constitutes a special sight in the early consumer society.But women as consuming subjects actually put themselves in an awkward dilemma.Women consumption also reflects Dreiser's ideas about women
