Study on the Postmodernist Novel of Inherent Vice Written by Thomas Ruggles Pynchon

美国后现代主义作家品钦的小说《性本恶》体现出作者一贯的后现代性:对既有道德观、人生观的颠覆,对传统观念、主流观念的颠覆;对虚幻世界的感受,对现实与虚幻的混杂;对嬉皮士生活方式和各种政治、社会现象的调侃。可以从三个方面探讨该小说的后现代叙事:后现代符号的叛逆与颠覆、后现代现实与虚构的主题、后现代幽默与荒诞的叙事。

Inherent Vice, a novel written by the post modernism writer Pynchon, reflects the postmodernism which is typical of his works, namely the subversion of the present morality and value of life, the subversion of the traditional values and mainstream ideas, the feeling for the fictional world, the mixture of the reality and fiction, the sarcasm of the life style of hippies and the various political and social phenome- non. The postmodern narration of the novel can be analyzed from the three aspects of the subversion of postmodern symbol, postmodern reality and fiction themes, and postmodern narration of humor and ab surdity.
