Objective: The existing studies of self-concept involving others mainly based on the supposed degree of intimacy of self and the self-concept including others in the social norm. The current research explored how actual intimacy influenced self-concept containing others. Methods: Using 2(intimacy: high, low)×4(reference condition: self, mother(or communicative others), others general, font)×2(judgement: R, K) mixed design, the dependent variable is the correct rate of R/K judgment. Closeness between self and mother(consanguineous relationship), the self and others(interacting relationship)were controlled by the Inclusion of Others in Self Scale. Results: Results of R judgment showed that the level of intimacy had no effect on the self including mother. For significant others, the difference between self and other was significant under conditions of low level intimacy, but not under conditions of high level intimacy. Conclusion: The degree of real intimacy has little influences on the self-concept including others of consanguineous relationship(e.g. mother), but modulates the self-concept including the others of interacting relationship(e.g. important others).
