Dramatic soprano Wang Wei caught the public's attention in 2008,when she starred in the China premieres of Wagner's Lohengrin and Tan Dun's Tea.Now revered as the only Wagnerian soprano in China and one of the few in Asia,she has played the ever-demanding role of Briinnhilde in Die Walkre and Gtterdmmerung in the China National Opera's productions conducted by Yu Feng.Earlier this year,she appeared in Turandot at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago to critical acclaim.In this interview with Rudolph Tang,she reveals her love for Wagnerian music dramas and plans to extend her career abroad.
