In chemical plant piping design, the pipe supports and hangers design is very important. But for the personnel who lack of the knowledge of materials, they often ignore it, they only pay attention to the style design of supports.The paper introduces the characteristics and application scopes for the existing common steel, and combined with the author＇s own design experience, gives some suggestions on how choose the supports material under the different conditions, and some problems should be paid attention in during the process.
