According to the practical engineering problem, this article mainly introduced the advantages and shortcomings of some common methods to complete data compression of line element. And then, the paper proposed a new method for line element data compression, and expounded the method's principle and steps. At last, the correctness and feasibility of the method had been proved in the paper.
