英语世界的元杂剧研究自20世纪50年代以来以美国为中心,取得了丰硕的研究成果;其研究内容广泛、研究视域新异、研究方法独特而多元,从而进一步拓展、丰富了元杂剧的内在文学、美学蕴涵及外在的文化艺术张力。英语世界学人一般经由小切入、深挖掘,并充分运用西方独特的学术思维与研究路径,从而使其研究更具鲜明而自觉的方法论与理论思辨色彩。作为全新的他者,英语世界的元杂剧研究必将会进一步拓展我国国内元杂剧研究的学术视域,为其生成更多的学术思维与理论资源,从而更好地促进新时期双方元杂剧研究的有力互补和融合;进而为其构建一片多元、互通、繁荣发展的广袤空间。

The study of Zaju in Yuan Dynasty in the English-speaking world, which takes United States as its center, has achieved fruitful academic achievements since 1950s, besides, its wideranging research contents, novel research horizon, unique and diverse research methods also fia＇ther expand the intrinsic literary aesthetic implication and extrinsic cultural and artistic tension. The scholars in the English-speaking world start from the narrow topic along with applying unique western academic thinking and critical approaches thoroughly, so their studies show the features of methodology awareness and critical thinking. As a fresh academic field, the study of Zaju in English-speaking countries will broaden the horizon of the domestic Zaju studies and generate more academic thinking and theoretical resources for broader and further academic communication.
