The book Phonology for listening：Teaching the Stream of Speech describes the features of spontaneous speech with the phonological concepts in the framework of phonology,claiming that EFL listening teaching should teach learners the decoding of spontaneous speech.The book has four parts.The first part makes an introduction to the framework ＂window on speech＂ employed for the analysis;the second part describes the phonogical features of spontaneous speech;the third part clarifies the relationships between listening phonology and accents,identity and emotion;the forth part brings about listening teaching techniques.This article introduces the contents of each chapter and makes comments on the contribution of the book in terms of practice and theory.
