During one lung ventilation (OLV) the inhaled 100% 02 can keep arterial oxygen partial pressure( PaO2 ) at a high level, however it may lead to inhaled atelectasis and oxygen toxicity. Although decreasirLg FiO2 increased the incidence of hypoxemia during OLV, an intensive perioperative monitoring and appropriate low FiO2 can be helpful to reduce acute lung injury. Here is mainly to describe the mechanisms of pulmonary oxygen toxicity during OLV, and introduce the recent research status of the influence of decreasing FiO2 on lung injury during OLV.
