Comparative Study on the Format Characteristics of JAPAN/MARC and CNMARC

JAPAN/MARC是日本MARC的磁带格式。由于日本对MARC格式的开发研究比较早,也比较成熟,并且MARC数据的质量较高,对中国日文文献的编目具有重要的借鉴作用。对JAPAN/MARC进行分析研究,指出JAPAN/MARC具有以下特点:不使用字段指示符;字段设置特殊;提供不同形式的检索点;专门设置了多卷集的各卷题名责任说明字段等。对两种MARC格式进行比较分析,厘清了字段间的差异与对应关系,有助于有效地利用日本的JAPAN/MARC书目数据编制中国的日文书目记录,提高日文编目数据的质量与效率。

JAPAN/MARC is a Japanese MARC tape format. As the development of Japan＇ s MARC was relatively earlier and more mature with a high quality of MARC data, it has played an important role in the catalogue of China＇ s collection in Japanese literature. Through the analysis and research of JAPAN/MARC, this study drew the follow- ing features of JAPAN/MARC： no special field indicator; special field setting; different forms of access points; de- fined special fields for the multi volume books. Then, based on the comparative analysis of two kinds of MARC for- mats, it found the differences and corresponding relationship between fields, which could help to effectively use JAPAN/MARC bibliographic data and improve its quality and efficiency.
