“While”的词义演变与主观化——一项基于语料库的研究

Semantic Change and Subjectification of “While”——A Corpus-Based Study

基于"历时美国英语语料库"和"当代美国英语语料库",文章对while词义演变的过程进行较为详细的历时研究,揭示出while词义主观意义加深的主观化分析过程,认为,while的词义演变过程实质上也是其主观化的过程。

Based on the Corpus of Historical American English（ COHA） and the Corpus of Contemporary American English（ COCA）,the paper attempts to make a detail diachronic study of the semantic change of ＂while＂,and then to reveal the course which accounts for the reason why the subjective meaning gets deeper of the word ＂while＂. It is concluded that the course of the semantic change of ＂while＂is actually the course of its subjectification.
