我钟爱水彩风景画,它已是我生命中不可缺少的一部分。画好水彩画,是我永久的追求和渴望。我喜欢画中国特色的水彩风景画,因为它具备西方的写实和色的冷暖变化关系,同时也具备富有中国传统笔墨和墨分五色的韵味。我在作画时,不管写生和创作,时刻牢记自己是在画水彩画,在写生中创作,在创作中写生,尽量发挥水与彩自然交融的妙趣去完美作品。在水彩艺术的道路上,我是一个爬山的老朽,艰难执着地向山上爬去,付出很大,收获极少,理想作品极少。我没难过,因为深知任何艺术的成功,没有侥幸,

Zepei Chi's original watercolour paintings were like a clean breeze that scattered the smog around me in Beijing.With no social utility,desire to become an artist,vulgar orientation to please the market or excessive fashionable skills,the eighty-year-old man called Zepei Chi worked as soon as he retired to devotedly chase the pure watercolour world and accompanied with the sunset.Nowadays the secular atmosphere thrives in the painting field with shallow interest circles,which makes it a hard wish to become pure and regain serenity.Unexpectedly we can see such an aged artist who keeps away from the metropolitan prosperity and gets devoted to art purely and naturally.Ordinarily dressed,he is honest but deliberate and elegant,like a sage Confucian who is so respectable.Zepei Chi's topics are farming sceneries in the hill area and seaside fishing life.He often goes to the country to sketch and walks alone in the natural wilds where few people go.The sceneries in Jiaodong were all painted by him.I especially like the springs,wild forests,alleys among the fields and rural houses in the Jiaodong hill areas he painted for they described the verdant scenes in spring,green scenes in summer,yellowness in autumn and the snowy pictures in winter with elegant,peaceful and thorough touches.Zepei Chi's watercolour paintings describe the thriving growth of different objects.It can be seen that he gives full play to his age by settling his heart in idleness and becoming passionate in creation.Zepei Chi was born in the village and worked there without ever leaving it.He loves everything in the land and puts his love in his artistic works.The inspiration of the atmosphere in his paintings lies in his painstaking efforts.Yue Yu once wrote a couplet: 'By accumulating from the little things,you get an inch when it is an inch and get a foot when it is a foot;as achievements are made without luck,as you sow,so shall you reap.' Based on such accumulating efforts,Zepei Chi has made today's achievements.
