大马路

The Great Road

历经了150余年风雨的大马路,在烟台近代史中占有重要地位,曾对烟台的发展起到过重要作用。如今的大马路已径成为了烟台海滨的一道景观,早已没有了昔日的影子,人们也只能从朝阳街老人的生活里追寻到曾经的一丝丝回忆。1860年,烟台有了一条与海岸线平行、宽阔平坦的马路,因是当时路中老大,于是得名大马路。虽在1910年改名东马路,但老烟台人仍旧习难改,称之为东大马路,直至1938年再度恢复大马路路名。大马路始长660米,1912年后延伸至1308米,

In 1860 there was a broad and flat road in Yantai which paralleled with the coast line.As it is the biggest in the roads,it was called the Great Road(Damalu).Although it was renamed as the East Road in 1910,the old Yantai people still followed their habit and called it the East Great Road until it recovered its former name of the Great Road.The Great Road is 660 meters long and expanded to 1,308 meters long in 1912.The Great Road was not only the biggest road in Yantai but also the street of art works because it was a base for the production,operation and export of laces and hairnets in the old Yantai.
