岭南大学校史上中外校长办学理念的差异

A Contrastive Study of American and Chinese Principal's Ideas of University Running in the History of Lingnan University

大学校长的办学理念对一所大学的发展极其重要。岭南大学是一所教会大学,最初是由一批美国传教士所建立的,其坚持以传教为主的办学理念,但忽略了中国民众的民族主义和爱国主义情感的影响。而钟荣光校长掌舵岭大后,因势利导地调整办学理念为"以实用教育为主",且多次赴海外筹款,最终把岭大发展成为多学科综合性大学。通过对岭南大学校史上中外校长办学理念的对比,更有利于我们看清校长对于大学发展所起到的灵魂性的主导作用。

The idea of how to run a university for a principal is very important. Lingnan University,as a Christian College at its beginning,was founded by a group of American missionary,who held the idea of claiming the Gospel and training Christians,but they ignored the influence of Chinese feelings of nationalism and patriotism. However,ZHONG Rongguang,a Chinese principal,made adaptation of the idea to emphasize the practical education,and also raise money aboard for many times,and then managed to develop Lingnan into a multi-diciplinary and comprehensive university. Thus,by contrast,we can get a better understanding on the important role a principal plays in the development of a university.
