Besides plum blossoms, or sakura, chrysanthemum is one of the most representative plants of Japan. Chrysanthemum and plum blossoms are not indigenous to Japan, but presumably native to China. This paper therefore investigates the process of having been introduced to Japan and becoming essential components of Japanese culture, as well as Japan' s recently expanded tree-planting program across China. The paper also demonstrates how the distance between China and Japan is gettinz closer from the perspective of various plants.
