An Analysis of the Connection in Howard's End from the Perspective of Culture

鉴于马修·阿诺德的文化观启发,对E.M.福斯特的名作《霍华德庄园》中"联结"主题赋予新阐释,指出只有借助文化的介入,通过文化与物质文明的联结,才能实现物质文明与精神文明的同步发展,有效地拯救当时英国中产阶级"发育不良的心"。

In the light of Matthew Arnold＇s cultural outlook,this paper conducts a further analysis of the connection theme in E.M. Forster＇s Howard＇s End. With the help of cultural intervention,the connecting of culture and civilization,it can realize the synchronous development of material civilization and spiritual civilization,and thus effectively save the ＂under-grown hearts＂ of the British middle class.
