The Evolution of Status of Samantabhadra in Esoteric Buddhism

普贤是密教中地位一直上升的佛教神祗,他在密教中地位的演变大致可从以下三对关系中表现出来:早期密教中的普贤与其他菩萨的关系,《大日经》与《金刚顶经》中的普贤与金刚手的关系,普贤与金刚萨埵的关系。

Samantabhadra is such a god whose status had been rising in Buddhism,the evolution of his status in Esoteric Buddhism can roughly be reflected from three relations：The relation between Samantabhadra and other Bodhisattvas in the early stage of Esoteric Buddhism;the relation between Samantabhadra and Vajrapani in ＂Mahavairochana Sutra＂and ＂Vajrashekhara Sutra＂;the relation between Samantabhadra and Vajrasattva.
