《神雕侠侣》在金庸武侠小说创作史上具有里程碑地位,也是金庸十五部武侠小说中被改编次数最多的一部小说。《神雕侠侣》受欢迎的原因是多方面的,其中之一就是金庸在这部小说中巧妙地运用了大量原型,包括:英雄的成长原型,小说中的主要英雄都有不同寻常的成长经历,即必须要经受住重重苦难,却又能得到别人难以得到的机会;英雄的使命原型,即小说中的主要英雄在民族遇到大难时,都能奋不顾身地承担起保家卫国的民族使命;三是英雄的仙凡爱情原型,即男女双方一开始差距很大,历经磨难终成眷属。这些都体现了《神雕侠侣》蕴含着的民族的深层集体无意识。

Its popularity is attributed to multiple factors, one of which is a large number of archetypes skillfully applied by the writer. In growth archetype, while heroes in the novel experience many hardships, they are granted rare opportunities. In mission archetype, these heroes will rise up without any hesitation to fight for their home and homeland, whenever in great trouble. And in love prototype, married lovers usually make their first appearance to be different from each other, and they will undergo many twists and turns until they reach the happy ending. In sum, the three archetypes employed in the novel convey in-depth national collective unconsciousness.
