On Extinction and Rebirth of Comparative Literature

比较文学是一门易遭人诟病的学科,自它成立之初到现在,不断有学者对之进行质疑、反思甚至否定。但中国学者从学科发展的历程、体系的建构等方面对质疑之声进行了反驳。事实上,以中国学者为代表的亚洲乃至东方的比较文学的发展势头正猛,呈现一片勃勃生机。展望历史,比较文学学科还是一门有待更加成熟和发展的学科,但我们有理由相信,新千年的历史转折会是比较文学学科的真正开始。

The comparative literature is a subject likely to be criticized.From its inception to the present,there have been questioned,reflected,even denied by scholars.But Chinese scholars retorted these questioning from the aspects of its history of the discipline development and the construction of the system.In fact,the development momentum of Asian and oriental comparative literature,with Chinese scholars as the representatives,are great and presents a great vitality.Looking into the history,the comparative literature is a discipline which needs to be more matured and developed one.But we have reason to believe that the historical turning of the new millennium would be the real start of this discipline.
