Objective To observe the clinical effect of probiotics combined with antibiotics in treatment of severe pulmonary infection in ICU patients. Methods 56 severe pulmonary infection patients admitted in the ICU of our hospital from March 2012 to March 2014 were included and randomly divided into the control group or observation group with 28 patients in each group. The control group was given antibiotic therapy, while the observation group was given the same treatment combined with probiotic. The treatment effect and the symptom indexes before and after the treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The total efficiency rate in Observation group was 82.14%including 5cases cured(17.86%)and 18 cases improved(64.28%),while in the control group, there were 1case cured(3.57%)and 16 cases improved(57.14%),resulting a total efficiency rate of 60.71%.The difference in total efficiency rate between the two groups was statistically significant(P〈0.05).In addition, the PO2,PCO2 and WBC were better after treatment in both groups, with those of the observation group significantly superior to those of the control group(P〈0.05).Conclusion Compared with antibiotic treatment, probiotics combined with antibiotic therapy has better effect, which can effectively alleviate the symptoms of lung infection, and can be used as one of the major means of treatment for severe lung infection.
