学术论文摘要中语法隐喻的英译研究

On Translation of Grammatical Metaphors in Academic Papers' Abstract

在学术论文写作中,摘要提供了论文梗概,是论文的重要组成部分。学术论文摘要的英文译文关乎一篇论文在国际学术范围内被检索和被引用的频次,而系统功能语法理论认为,语法隐喻是构建学术话语的重要途径,因此,学术论文摘要中语法隐喻的翻译直接影响着英文摘要的质量乃至论文的传播范围和影响力。为了研究学术论文摘要中语法隐喻的英译情况,进一步促进国际学术交流,通过从江苏大学CNKI数据库中随机选取10篇中文学术论文,对其中的英文摘要进行分析,发现:(1)中文摘要中92.7%的名词化语法隐喻都被翻译成相应的英文;(2)语法隐喻的翻译方式以直译为主,同时还存在解释法,词性转换等多种翻译方法;(3)不同的翻译方法其表意与篇章功能不尽相同。

The abstract is a summary and a crucial part of a paper. The English abstract is closely related to the retrieval and citation frequency of Chinese papers in international academic field. And in Systemic-Functional Grammar, the grammatical metaphor is considered as an important approach to construct academic discourse. Therefore, the grammatical metaphor translation of Chinese abstract has a direct impact on the quality of its English version. To investigate the translation of Chinese abstract, and thus to promote international academic exchange, this paper analyzed 10 abstracts of academic papers selected randomly from CNKI database of Jiangsu University. It is found that （1） most of the grammatical metaphors in Chinese abstract are translated into English, （2） the most frequently used method in grammatical metaphor translation is literal translation, and there still exist some other methods, such as explanation, conversion of word class, etc., （3） the function of conveying meaning and achieving textual cohesion varies in these translation methods.
