Diaspora Writing and the Fluid Identity of Immigrants——From Typical American to Mona in the Promised Land

身份认同对于生活在异质文化中的少数族裔而言常常呈现出流散趋势和特点。第二代美国华裔移民作家任璧莲在其作品《典型的美国佬》及其续篇《梦娜在希望之乡》中以深刻的笔触勾画出身处多元文化背景中的美国族裔移民对主体身份认同所表现出的困惑及难能可贵的应对方式。通过对移民身份的流变、族裔与文化身份的唯一性和固定性的质疑,彰显出作家对移民身份混杂性与流变性的思考,对消解主流与边缘的界限和重新构建移民身份找到有效的阐释途径。

Identification has emerged some new features and presented a diaspora trend for ethnic minorities living in different cultures. Gish Jen,the second generation of Chinese American writer,describes the confusion of the immigrants＇ identity and their estimable coping style under Multiculturalism in Typical American and Mona in the Promised Land. Through the fluid identities and questioning on the uniqueness and stationarity of the ethnic identity and cultural identity,it could embody the writer＇s reflection on the hybridity and the fluidity of the immigrants＇ identities and could find an effective way for breaking the boundary and reconstructing the immigrants＇ identity.
