拒绝是人际交往中的常见现象,但并非所有的拒绝都是发自内心的真诚拒绝。虚假拒绝广泛地存在于中国文化中,可以说是拒绝言语行为的一种特殊表现形式。Verschueren的顺应论为人们理解和诠释当代语用学提供了一个全新的视角,它对汉文化中特有的虚假拒绝同样具有很强的解释力。虚假拒绝作为一种语用策略,正是与语言使用者的物理世界、心理世界和社交世界相互顺应的结果。

Refusal is a common phenomenon in human communication. However, not all the refusals are sincere. Ostensible refusal, which is a special form of refusal, frequently appears in the Chinese culture. Verschueren＇s linguistic adaptation theory provides people with a brand-new perspective to understand and explain modern pragmatics. It can also be used to explain the distinctive phenomenon of ostensible refusals in Chinese culture. As a pragmatic strategy, ostensible refusal is the outcome of adaptation to the physical, psychological and social worlds of the language users.
