从国家翻译实践视角看沙博理翻译研究的价值

Significance of Research on Sidney Shapiro's Translations: a Perspective of National Translation Program

"国家翻译实践"是指以国家名义为实现自利的战略目标而自发实施的自主性翻译实践,其本质是翻译的制度化,并体现出具有浓厚意识形态性质的使命型翻译特质。中国翻译史上不乏具有国家翻译实践特征的实例。新中国成立后,我国的国家翻译实践有了进一步发展,且一开始就有外来译家参与,其中沙博理作为中国当代翻译史上的特殊翻译家为中国翻译事业做出了突出贡献。从国家翻译实践的视角看,沙博理翻译研究具有三重价值:沙博理之文化翻译模式;译本语料中的"中国英语"价值;《大中华文库》选录沙译《水浒传》的传播价值。

National Translation Program is defined as the translating activity a state of sovereignty stages,in the state name and on its own mater,to carry out strategic goals for self benefit. The translation history in China and other countries sees many of such national translation programs as state actions. After the foundation of P. R. China,the national translation program of our country has seen a further development. Foreign translators,or the translators form other countries,served their roles in the New China＇s national programs,among which Sidney Shapiro,a particular one in the contemporary translation history,has contributed greatly to China＇s translation cause. The paper makes a survey of current research on Shapiro＇s translation and points out the three aspects for significance in research on Shapiro＇s translation,namely,the value of revealing Shapiro＇s model of translation of Chinese culture,China English in Shapiro＇s translations by means of corpus-based analysis,the implication of Shapiro＇s translation of Shui Hu Zhuan selected into Libraries of Chinese Classics.
