Professor Hongpu Kang graduated from Shanxi Mining College in1985, and obtained his MS and Ph.D. degrees from China Universityof Mining and Technology in 1988 and 1991, respectively. He beganhis mining engineering career in Beijing Mining Research Institute,China Coal Research Institute in 1991.
