The Mother's Struggle and Rebellion——A Study of Pearl S. Buck's Feminist Consciousness

女性主义作家赛珍珠的笔下的"母亲"虽生活在旧中国,命运坎坷、身份低微,却并不甘于被父权所压制和奴役。她的女性主义特征主要体现在三个方面:敢于追求自己的情爱,勇于抗争命运不公,与男性争夺话语权。赛珍珠通过细腻刻画"母亲"的内心需求、赞扬"母亲"的社会效用,极好地塑造出半封建半殖民地社会中国妇女的画像,表达了她本人的女性心态和美好理想。

Although the mother portrayed by feminist writer Pearl S. Buck lived in old China miserably and humbly, she was unwilling to be suppressed and enslaved by patriarchy. Her feminist features were expressed in the following three aspects ： dare to pursue her emotions, defy the unfairness of fate and struggle for discourse power a- gainst men. By depicting the mother＇ s inner feelings and praising her social utility, Pearl S. Buck modeled a group of China＇ s women who lived in semi colonial semi feudal society; meanwhile she displayed her female psychology and beautiful ideals.
