Protection and Development of Cave Dwellings of the West Part of Henan Province

窑洞有着独特的建筑特点,具有现代建筑所没有的物理功能。随着城市化的发展,民居窑洞受到冲击,濒临灭绝。但在提倡环保的今天,人们又开始保护这一传统特有的民居。对于窑洞的保护及发展,需要客观分析它的优劣,认识其低碳环保等优点。同时,用科学建筑技术弥补它功能上的不足。只有这样,才能满足人们对居住空间的要求,才能使窑洞这种建筑形式得到更好的传承和发展。

Cave dwellings have unique architectural features with special physical functions that modem architectures do not possess. Cave dwellings were once endangered with the development of urbanization. Fortunately, due to the calling for environment protection, people have begun to protect these traditional dwellings. To protect and develop these cave dwellings, we have to make an objective analysis of their advantages and disadvantages, especially to realize their merit of low carbon to the environment. Meanwhile, their functional shortages need to be made up with scientific architectural technologies so as to meet people＇ s need for dwelling space. By doing so, cave dwellings will have a better inheritance and development in the future.
