In the present article,through depicting in detail the heroine Edna's extramarital love affair in The Awakening,it was disclosed that her desire for her lover,as a matter of fact,she desires for the power in the new sexual relationship and for a new female identity as a subject.The topic on sex,gender and female identity has always been the focus of feminism.Kate Chopin's literary creative idea of displaying female psychological truth based on human nature showed the fusion of her idea with feminist viewpoints.And it coincided with the theory of Subject of Jacques Lacan,the French post-modernist psychoanalyst as well.
