As complementary materials to the study of history and culture of China＇ s foods, Lu You＇ s poems have been largely overlooked. As a matter of fact, his poems are valuable to our study as they deservedly serve as first - hand information on the politics, economy, diet and custom of the ordinary people of the Southern Song Dynasty （1127- 1279）.
