The Social Role and Social Image of the Public Library

公共图书馆的社会角色有四个具体类型,即知识管家、文化奶妈、知识慈善者和知识中介人。在不同的历史时期,公共图书馆的社会形象因社会角色各异而出现程度不同的变化。本文在阐述公共图书馆社会角色、社会形象的概念及其相互关系的基础上,确认公共图书馆在社会上是一种配角而非主角。

The social role of the public library includes four specific types, namely the knowledge of the housekeeper, the culture nurse, the knowledge of charity and the knowledge intermediaries. The social image of the public library has different levels of change due to its different social roles in different historical periods. Based on the concepts of the social role and social image and its relationship, this paper confirms that the public library has a supporting role rather than leading role in the society because of the identity and status of the public library.
