摘要
以《纽约客》前驻华记者彼得·海斯勒的中国报道为研究对象,运用跨文化传播理论与叙事学研究方法,在文本分析的基础上,从彼此的"他者"、文化适应与异国乡愁、"传统范"与"现代性"的相互建构三个层次展开,探讨其建构中国形象的话语方式、文化价值与跨文化意义。海斯勒建构的"中国形象"不再是某种西方标准之下的参照物,也非宏大叙事中冷冰冰的"国家形象",而是从现实的中国土壤中生长出来,融入了海斯勒作为"外来者"的体验与思考,包含了生活复杂性和个体独特性的现代中国。
Based on the textual analysis, this thesis makes an analysis of the narrative discourse, cultural value and intercultural significance in Peter Hessler' s China image construction in his Chinese report,in the light of the intercultural communication theory and narratology. It approaches the issue from three aspects: mutual‘OTHER',acculturation versus exotic nostalgia and the mutual construction between the tradition and the modernity. Originating from the Chinese reality,the China image constructed by Hessler,which is neither reference under a certain western standard,nor some kind of icy national image in grand narratives, is a modern China includes the life complexity and the individual uniqueness,involved by the experience and reflection of Hessler,as a ‘outsider'.
