Objective: To investigate the correlation between the quality of life of children with chronic skin diseases and the emotion of the parents. Methods: A total of 587 eases of children with chronic skin diseases(atopic dermatitis, vitiligo and psoriasis) and 1 031 parents were enrolled from May 2008 to Sep 2013. The evaluation of severity of the diseases, and the emotion(depression, anxiety) of the parents were performed. The children disease life quality(CDLQI) scores were mea- sured to assess the quality of life of the children, the Hamilton's anxiety score(HAS) and Beek's depression Inventory(BDI) were used to assess the extent of depression and anxiety expressed by the parents. Results: The severity of atopic dermatitis, vitiligo and psoriasis were correlated with the CDLQI scores of children with chronic skin diseases. The parents with anxiety in the children with atopie dermatitis group showed higher CDLQI scores(10.67±7.86) than that of the parents without anxi- ety(7.68±7.13)(P=0.004). The parents with depression in the children with vitiligo and psoriasis group showed higher CDLQI scores than that of the parents without depression(P=0.021, 0.036). Conclusion: The emotion of the parents are correlated with the quality life of their children with chronic skin diseases.
