A Corpus-based Comparative Study of the Hospital Profiles of Chinese and US. Hospitals

摘要英文简介是医院的国际名片,是吸引国际患者、促进对外交流与合作的重要宣传文本。本文通过自建两个小型的专题语料库,运用Wordsmith Tools 6.0.0.233语料库检索软件,对比26所中国医院和16所美国知名医院的英文简介,分析并探讨中、美医院英文简介在内容重点和描述视角方面的差异,为我国医院外宣英译工作提供参考。 Hospital profile in English language is representative of the hospital＇s world image, and thus very important for its communication and cooperation abroad. By building two specialized corpora, this study employed the lexical analysis software Wordsmith Tools 6.0.0.233 to compare 26 profiles of Chinese hospitals with 16 profiles of hospitals in US.. It is found that profiles of Chinese hospitals differ from those of US. hospitals in the angle and focus of the narration, which should be taken into account in the translation of profiles of Chinese hospitals.
