University Management as a Calling:The New Normal of University Governance

现代大学治理呈现高度专业化趋势,要求执掌校政者"以治校为志业",走大学校长职业化、专业化道路。大学校长应承诺以治校为天职、使命,而不是兼职、副业;同时要全职行政,全身心投入,坚决叫停"双肩挑"。国家须在大学校长选拔、任用及评价制度设计等方面"去行政化",大胆变革,方能使"以治校为志业"成为新常态。

The modern university governance showed the trend of high professionalization,which required the university president to regard university management as a calling and take the road of professionalization.The university president should make the commitments of treating university management as his calling and holy responsibility rather than his part-time job or concurrent post;meanwhile,the university president should devote himself to university management,not a double-tasked administrator.The government should abandon excessive administrative interferences in the promotion,appointment and evaluation of the university president,and make bold reforms.Only in this way,it would be the new normal to regard university management as a calling.
