试论夏志清《中国现代小说史》的“洞见”与“不见”

On “Seen” and “Unseen” in A History of Chinese Fiction by C.T Hsia

夏志清先生是欧美汉学的学术巨擘,他撰写的《中国现代小说史》在文学史观念、文学批评方法等方面对新时期以来的大陆学界产生了重要影响。作为一部经典之作,夏著展现了深刻的"洞见",如注重文学的审美功能、发掘一批被历史湮没的作家以及显露出宏大国际视野等。但从不同视角予以观照,夏著亦有一些"不见"。本文就夏著的"洞见"与"不见"展开探究。

C. T Hsia is considered as the giant in European and American Sinology,his'A History of Modern Chinese Fiction'had a great impact on mainland academic circles in the concept of literature history,and methods of literary criticism since the new period. In this masterpiece,Hsia revealed profound'seen',such as laying emphasis on aesthetic function,exploring the writers who had been neglected by history and revealing international views. However,C. T Hsia still had some 'unseen'from different angles. This paper proceeded to explore his 'seen'and 'unseen'in his works.
