英语名词回指的转喻认知实证阐释——以《新世纪大学英语综合教程》为例

Analysis of Nominal Anaphora in College English Integrated Course: a Perspective from Metonymy

转喻与回指现象的整合研究是近年来的热点。现代语言学认为,转喻是在同一理想化认知模型内一个概念实体为另一概念实体提供心理可及,它对名词回指现象有一定的解释力。基于理想化认知模型、凸显原则以及语篇转喻模型可以建立回指的转喻认知模型,运用这一模型对大学英语综合教程中的名词回指进行认知阐释,能清楚地揭示名词回指语与先行项之间的认知转喻过程,有助于培养学生的转喻思维,加深对名词回指以及语篇衔接与连贯的理解,对学生语篇理解能力的提高大有裨益。

The integrated research of metonymy and anaphora has been a new focus in recent years. Modern linguistics interprets metonymy as a cognitive process in which one more salient conceptual entity mentally accesses another entity,which has great explanatory power to nominal anaphora. Based on Idealized Cognitive Model,salience principle and Discourse Metonymic Model,a metonymic model on anaphora can be established. In this paper,this metonymic model is applied to the analysis of nominal anaphora in College English Integrated Course,which clearly reveals the cognitive process of nominal anaphora. It is helpful for students to cultivate the metonymic thinking,to deepen their understanding of nominal anaphora and textual cohesion and coherence.
