Research on Essential Value of Urban Design under the Background of New-type Urbanization

新型城镇化对城市设计的影响主要体现在从增量规划向存量规划转变、生态和可持续发展成为城市空间发展的趋势、信息和新技术对城市设计理念和方法的提升。在此背景下,城市设计更要清晰认识自身的核心领域与价值,才能更好适应新型城镇化发展的需求。文章从城市设计历史发展和产生渊源角度,阐明其核心领域在于城市空间塑造和空间质量的提高;其核心价值体现在城市规划和建筑设计所不能替代的方面,并通过设计控制手段,制定城市空间发展的基本原则,确保城市空间品质的底线。城市设计操作的核心内容是建立和制定空间生产的机制,从整体上规范、引导空间形态生产,保证城市空间整体和谐又能凸显地区个性与特色。

This paper discusses the essential value of urban design under the background of New-type Urbanization. The influence of New-type Urbanization brings to urban design includes： the shift from incremental planning to inventory planning, ecological and sustainable development becoming the main tendency, new information technology improving the ideas and methods of urban design. The essential value of urban design must be realized before adapting the requirement of New-type Urbanization. By researching the history and the origin of urban design, this thesis explains that the basic fields of urban design are space forming and improving the quality of urban space. The essential value of urban design cannot be replaced by city planning and architectural design. As a method of design control, urban design constitutes basic rules to guarantee the basic line of the urban spatial quality. The essential work of urban design is making mechanism for space production -- the design structure, which can make the harmony of the whole space form and, present the local characteristics to the urban space.
