文章试图从理论构架和中国案例两个方面,探索建筑的"美学现代主义"的社会史。从政治和美学具有内在联系这个想法出发,根据雅克·朗西埃的理论,这篇文章展开了一些理论思考和历史分析,倡导一种强调社会(政治)和形式(美学)意味的"进步"概念的历史写作。文章随后转向现代中国的建筑,呈现了在此语境下对这段历史的一些观察结果。这个研究同时面向史学家和建筑师,倡导形式设计的社会史,以及在社会和形式意义上都具有"进步性"的建筑设计。
This essay explores the possibility of a social history of aesthetic modernism in architecture in general and for the case of China in particular. Developing from an idea that politics and aesthetics are intrinsically related, as theorized by Jacques Ranci^re, this essay develops a few conceptual and historical observations, for a type of historical writing that privileges 'progress' that is social (political) and formal (aesthetic). This essay then moves on to observe architecture of modern China, and develops a few observations for such a history in this context. This study calls for a social history of formal design, and a design that is socially and formally progressive, for historians and architects alike.
