Spatial Redundancy

文章指出,空间冗余不仅是当下建筑实践的既有环境,也是以城市为代表的建成环境的自然属性。这是将发展和进步作为主要导向的当代社会和建筑学科常常忽略的事实,至少迄今尚未正视。研究空间冗余,是试图将建筑学放置到更长远的历史周期,更大范围的空间环境中进行审视和反思,从中发掘的特征和规律或可成为建筑学理论和实践具有启发的方向。

Spatial redundancy is not only the context for contemporary architectural practice, but also the nature of urban built environment. This is a fact barely valued, if not totally ignored in the scope of society as well as the architectural field, both of which are still under the domination of evolving and progressive ideology. By putting Architecture into a longer historical period and broader circumstances, the study of spatial redundancy attempts at academic inspections and reflections through which new rules and directions may be explored to guide further practice and theoretical research.
