Objective To understand the HIV related knowledge ,behavior and infection status among men who have sex with men (MSM), and to provide scientific evidence for prevention and control of AIDS in MSM. Methods Four consecutive surveys were conducted among MSM in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 respectively. Blood samples were collected from all participants for HIV detection. Survey data were recorded with Epi Data 3.0 software and statistically analyzed with SPSS 13.0 software. Results A total of 1 819 participants were investigated during 2010-2013. The awareness rate of AIDS-related knowledge was related to age, education level and history of receiving AIDS interventions in the past year. Univariate analysis showed that the frequency of condom use when having anal sex in the last 6 months was associated with age, marital status, education level, awareness of AIDS knowledge and history of receiving AIDS interventions in the past year (P〈0.05 or P〈 0.01). However, multivariate analysis showed that the awareness rate was associated with education level and history of receiving AIDS interventions in the past year (P〈0.05). The rate of HIV infection among the MSM was affected by the frequency of condoms use in the last 6 months (P〈0.05). Conclusion The frequency of condom use is significantly related to HIV infection and the influencing factors are complex. It is necessary to strengthen the intervention and promote the condom use.
