摘要
埃德加·爱伦·坡在其小说创作中注重将"侧目而视"当作其"秘密写作"的认知理据,主张用"暗示性的一瞥"去聚焦核心寓意层面,并使之与解码层面上的"视网膜外围聚焦"形成精巧的逻辑对位关联。基于此,本文围绕坡的小说文本中零散出现的三个关键命题——"真实比虚构更奇怪"、"暗示性的一瞥"及"游戏之外的事物"——进行创作层面上的探析,说明其功能得以实现的认知基础均关联着作为视觉诗学原则的"侧目而视"。
Edgar Allan Poe regards 'sidelong glance',among other factors,as the major cognitive motivation behind his 'secret writing',and hence advocates taking 'suggestive glimpses'at the essential moral issues so as to reach an exquisite logic counterpoint with the technique of 'turning toward it the exterior portions of the retina'. In light of this,the article centers upon three sporadically emergent propositions in Poe's fictional world— 'Truth is stranger than fiction','suggestive glimpese',and 'things external to the game'—for poetic analysis,concluding that their functional fulfillments all bear cognitively upon'sidelong glance'as a principle of visual poetics.
