"Home" and "motherland" is a permanent topic in Chinese American literature. To diasporas, home is identity while the process of identification is that of finding home. Fae Myenne's Bone depicts how the first, second and new generation of Chinese-Americans understand the different meanings of "home" and how they rebuild their spiritual home when their home and culture identity have disappeared. Due to the invasion of white-dominant culture, the dream of finding a spiritual home has become a luxury for emigrants of the first and second generation. The new generation of American Chinese, Leila being a representative, by placing their imaginary homeland in the memory of national culture, finds the spiritual home for themselves outside Chinatown.
