沙滩网球是在沙滩上打网球,是应用网球规则与技术并运用沙滩排球场地于一体的运动。2000年起源于意大利,是国际网球联合会正式启动的国际赛事,2012年国际沙滩网球赛首次登陆中国,并每年在中国设立公开赛,作者通过近几年在三亚举办的国际沙滩网球巡回赛的调研,发现沙滩网球在欧美国家蓬勃发展,在中国已被越来越多的网球爱好者所接受。沙滩网球运动的休闲性与竞争性是沙滩网球运动得以普及的主要原因;技术要求简易性和竞赛方法的灵活性是沙滩网球运动的主要特征;沙滩网球对我国沙滩体育运动的主要启示有:应加强休闲体育政策支持,让更多的人参与到沙滩体育运动中去,有条件的海域城市应积极的打造沙滩体育精品赛事。
