西南联大在抗日战争的烽火硝烟中诞生,仅仅8年的时间,大师云集、人才辈出,培养了大批英才为国家做出了重要贡献。西南联大培养优秀人才的秘诀到底在哪里,有哪些成功经验值得借鉴?西南联大北京校友会会长潘际銮院士以他的求学经历总结了这所大学在抗日烽火中的治校理念是教授治校、学术自由、自主办学;建立严格的教学要求与宽松的教育制度;始终有大师精神与先进文化的熏陶。

National Southwest Associated University was founded in the anti-Japanese war time, and it had existed only for 8 years. But during those 8 years, it gathered great masters and cultivated many excellent talents, making important contributions to China. What is its secret for talent cultivation, and what lessons could we learn from it？ In this paper, we interviewed Professor Pan Jiluan, an Acad- emician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of Beijing Alumni Association of National Southwest Associated University. By reviewing his own experience, Prof. Pan summarized that the ideals of the university are Faulty Governance, Academic Freedom and Independent Management. Meanwhile, the university had constructed a rigid standard for instruction and a loose educational system, and was always under the influence of great masters and advanced culture.
