阿玛兰塔是《百年孤独》中布恩迪亚家族最重要的女性之一,她为三位男性所爱,但终身未嫁,孤老一生,最终走向彻底的自我封闭与孤独。如何理解阿玛兰塔的爱情心理,是目前研究中的一个空白。阿玛兰塔在自己的三场爱情中,追求琴师源于嫉妒;与上校的交往实质出于自私;拒绝侄儿的肉欲之爱出于对禁忌的恐惧和性格的保守。嫉妒而无爱,自私而不知,深受欲望折磨但又没有勇气冲破伦理的束缚,是造成阿玛兰塔人生悲剧的根本原因,也是整个布恩迪亚家族因孤独走向灭亡的缩影。
