The True Story between Martial Arts Champion Zheng Weicheng and the Nun Ling Yuan

明人彙辑前人小説,命名爲《虞初志》。自此至清末,陸續有人以"虞初"爲名,選編引人入勝的小説故事傳世。清黄承增辑《廣虞初新志》,收鄭梁《女僧靈源傳》一篇。此奇女子是湖南武岡州人,聲名著於外地和小説中,在故鄉反而不彰,本文擬疏通原著文集和方志等所載,彙證靈源及其家人本事,以饗讀者。

The collection of novels by Ming writers is named as Yu Chu Zhi(《虞初志》). Since the end of the Qing Dynasty,various writers had been continuously compiling fascinating stories and novels in the name of "Yu Chu" . Huang Chengzeng of the Qing Dynasty compiled Guang Yu Chu Xin Zhi(《廣虞初新志》),in which,he collected "The Biography of the Nun,Ling Yuan" . This amazing woman was from my hometown. Despite being well known in the literature and other places,she is relatively unknown in her hometown. This article is intended to publicize Ling Yuan and her family based on some primary sources such as literature of that time and local government records for readers to enjoy.
